The Hunted

The Hunted

The Hunted

Cast: Tommy Lee Jones, Benicio del Toro, Connie Nielsen, Jenna Boyd, Leslie Stefanson, Mark Pellegrino

Revealing the bond between these two men almost entirely without words, Friedkin first introduces Aaron Hallam (Benicio Del Toro) in 1999, during the bloodiest of the fighting in Kosovo. Serbian soldiers are carrying out scores of atrocities against Albanian civilians, while US Special Forces operate covertly nearby. Aaron - at this time a soldier in good standing - penetrates a demolished building and slips unseen past guards silently killing the Serbian officer who has ordered all this butchery. Awarded the Silver Star for valor for this murder, Aaron feels no honor as he lies awake, tormented by nightmares.

In 2003, light years away from what happened in Kosovo, we meet L.T. Bonham (Tommy Lee Jones) tracking an injured wolf through the bright white snows of northernmost British Columbia, which he rescues and then marches into the nearest tavern and gives a beating to the man who set the trap.

A thousand miles to the south, in the green woods of Silver Falls, Oregon, L.T.'s former student Aaron Hallam - now AWOL from the Special Forces - keeps his own brand of wildlife vigil. Aaron has been viciously killing hunters in the area. The FBI, led by Special Agent Abby Durrell (Connie Nielsen), desperate to track down the killer, call in the one man who can bring him down - L.T.

Snug on retirement, L.T. resists the mission every way he can. He knows the killer is a man he has trained. Accepting the assignment on the condition he works alone, L.T. walks into the woods - unarmed, as if tracking another wounded wolf. For L.T. is only who can get close to Aaron. Even as they go into their final combat against each other, neither can say with certainty who is 'hunted' and who is the 'hunter'... and who will ultimately emerge as a victor.

Batman Forever

Batman Forever

Cast: Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman

Director Joel Schumacher inherited the Batman franchise from Tim Burton and began steering it in the campier direction of the Sixties television show with this third installment. First-time Batman/Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer), in his only outing as the Caped Crusader, is effectively brooding as he ponders strange dreams about his parents' death and escapes his own near-demise at the hands of Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones), a former district attorney driven insane and turned into a master criminal when a gangster throws acid in his face.

Meanwhile, as sexy psychologist Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) tries to analyze and seduce both Bruce Wayne and Batman, Wayne Enterprises employee Edward Nygma (Jim Carrey) reacts badly to getting fired, using his self-invented mind-energy device to transform into the super-intelligent Riddler. The Riddler teams up with Two-Face to bring down Batman and drain the minds of Gotham City residents with his device, while Batman gets some much-needed help in the form of circus performer Dick Grayson (Chris O'Donnell), out for vengeance after being orphaned by Two-Face.

Much of the movie is told from a television-perspective. The film intends to highlight the sensationalized way crimes are depicted in the media and the manner in which some killers have been glamorized by the media. The film was criticized for its excessively graphic and violent content.

Highly controversial examination of President John F. Kennedy's 1963 assassination, from the viewpoint of New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison. Hotly debated because of Stone's conspiracy theory, it sparked new calls to open the sealed government records from the 1977 House Select Committee on Assassinations investigation. Outstanding performances from all-star principal and supporting casts, stunning cinematography, and excellent editing. Even Garrison himself shows up as Chief Justice Earl Warren. Considered by some to be a cinematic masterpiece, others see it as revisionist history that should be taken with a grain of salt. Extended version adds 17 minutes.
