On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old "halfling." When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base's general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection.

Three college classmates Jim, Dixie and Ginger, purchase a ghost in an online auction. Thinking it’s a joke, they have no idea they’ve just bought the spirit of Katie Malone, an abused Irish servant girl chained outside by her owner until she froze. When a black wooden box arrives in the mail, Dixie and Ginger make wishes in hopes the ghost will fulfill them. Even after their wishes come true they don’t believe in the apparition until stranger things begin to happen. In a warped and violent attempt to appease her new masters Katie murders a professor who gave Dixie a bad grade a sorority girl who’d given Jim the cold shoulder has her arm chopped off Jim’s rival turns to ash. Clearly they’ve unleashed the vengeful spirit of poor Katie Malone. Jim, Dixie, and Ginger try to rid themselves of the poltergeist, telling her she’s free, but this rejection only fuels Katie’s rage…
