Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is an upcoming 2011 epic fantasy film directed by David Yates, written by Steve Kloves and the second of two films based on the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. The film, which is the eighth and final instalment in the Harry Potter film series, is produced by Rowling along with David Heyman and David Barron. The story continues to follow Harry Potter on a quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe in his final performance as the titular character, Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The supporting cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and Maggie Smith.

Harry, Ron and Hermione continue to track down Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes in an effort to destroy him. The students and teachers must defend Hogwarts from an attack by the Death Eaters who are lead by lord Voldemort. Harry must face his destiny and battle Voldemort for the last time.

Harry Potter and his cousin Dudley Dursley are attacked by two Dementors, but Harry manages to drive the Dementors off with a Patronus charm. Shortly thereafter, the Ministry of Magic detect the act of underage wizardry and attempt to have Harry expelled from Hogwarts immediately, but this is modified to a trial later in the summer. Harry is later awoken by the arrival of an advance guard of wizards who escort him to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, a secret organisation founded by Dumbledore. It is only now that Harry discovers that under the Ministry's influence the newspaper The Daily Prophet has launched a smear campaign against anyone who claims that Voldemort has returned. Harry and the other members of the Order fly to 12 Grimmauld Place, the home of Sirius Black, where they meet with Sirius, Ron, Hermione and others. The year is 2047 and a rescue mission has been sent to salvage the Event Horizon, a ship missing for the last seven years. Only when the rescue team is in deep space, does Dr Weir, the ship's designer, reveal that everything they know about the ship is a lie. He explains that that Event Horizon was designed for faster than light travel and that the ship disappeared after her gravity drive, her revolutionary engineering process, was engaged. After playing the ship's onboard recording device, the sounds of terrified shrieks and wails hint at the nightmarish fate that befell the crew, a nightmare the rescue team will soon encounter themselves.
