Mary Kathleen Turner (born June 19, 1954) is an American actress. She came to fame during
the 1980s, after roles in the Hollywood films Body Heat, Romancing the Stone,
Prizzi's Honor, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The War of the Roses, Serial Mom and
Peggy Sue Got Married, for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for
Best Actress.
„The studios are no longer creative institutions.
Their job is to raise a great deal of money for their shareholders, to hedge
their bets about risk. All this does not spell creativity. You might as well be
talking real estate. Thank goodness for the independents. Except that
distribution is still controlled by the studios. So they take the first week's
profit and, after that, they don't give a damn. They take their money and they
leave. It sucks.”
